Background

I have worked as a full-time medical writer and editor since the 1990s. My writing career actually started a few years earlier when, as a practicing veterinarian, I was invited to coauthor a textbook and write textbook chapters in my specialty field of avian and zoo animal medicine.
I have had the opportunity since then to work with physicians and researchers in the US, Europe, South America, and Asia to report the results of studies, meetings, and consensus gatherings. My veterinary training has served me well, as I am comfortable working in most therapeutic areas of both human and veterinary medical fields. Humans are but another primate after all!
Over the years my writing and editing assignments have covered many topics and conditions, including but not limited to asthma, allergy, cardiovascular medicine, diabetes, migraine, osteoporosis, ophthalmology, gastroenterology, antibiotic therapy, clinical practice guidelines, and assessing clinical trial evidence. Projects have included regulatory submissions, book chapters, meeting reports, newsletters, review papers, and manuscripts reporting clinical trials.
The bulk of my work in recent years has focused on research and review papers for journal publication.
